Quick link – the best prices for Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Let me get this straight: you have chosen a great hotel. And in case you don’t have a lot of time, here is a great website to find Lopesans’ best rates*. However, it is highly recommended that you read this extensive Lopesan Costa Bavaro review, as there are still some things you should know before heading to this still pretty new resort in Punta Cana. There is also a section below that talks extensively about how to save and find the best deals when booking Lopesan Costa Bavaro.
Where is Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Lopesan Costa Bavaro All Inclusive is located in the heart of Punta Cana, right in Bavaro at the famous Bavaro Beach. It is located between Barceló Bavaro Palace and Melía Punta Cana Beach Resort on a beautiful stretch of beach, next to the public access point of Playa Bibijagua and Jellyfish Beach with some famous beach clubs. Leaving the resort landside, it is located within walking distance from the former Palma Real Mall (which is currently not in use). As you can see, Lopesan Bavaro features a pretty centric location and is not as remote as many other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana.
The distance from Lopesan Costa Bavaro to the Punta Cana International Airport is around 10 miles. A quick 20-minute ride brings you from the airport to the hotel. For a smooth arrival, it is recommended to prebook your airport transfer as taxis are not always reliable. Check out more information in our detailed Punta Cana airport transfer guide.
In case you’re not sure what to book, this service here* is one of the most recommendable transfers from Punta Cana Airport to Lopesan Costa Bavaro. You get greeted right at the airport by your driver and brought straight to Lopesan resort.
Overview of Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino was only opened in 2019, just before Covid-19 hit Punta Cana and our world, and is, therefore, one of the newer all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. Even though the property was home to the hotel IFA Villas Bavaro before, everything is completely new with contemporary design as IFA got completely leveled down and Lopesan Bavaro built instead.
Hotel Lopesan Punta Cana is a compact and large resort at the same time, which gives a first hint of the unique and amazing design you can expect at this Punta Cana all-inclusive resort. The lobby and all of the accommodation buildings with more than 1000 rooms are just a maximum of 900 feet (275 meters) away from the beach, which is not more than a 4-minute walk. For Punta Cana standards, this is a pretty small all-inclusive resort, considering that large properties such as Hard Rock Punta Cana, Grand Bavaro Princess or Melía Punta Cana Beach Resort require a 15-minute walk from the lobby and some of the rooms until you can reach the beach.
This being said, the 1000 rooms at Lopesan Costa Bavaro are allocated in pretty big buildings with 5 floors, which is very high for the Dominican Republic. However, Lopesan Punta Cana did an excellent job when it came to the design and the architecture of the buildings because the hotel doesn’t appear like a big unaesthetic concrete block. It rather seems like a wonderful Caribbean world with lots of palm trees and a pleasant Caribbean vibe, thanks to the many natural materials they included and some beautiful lush vegetation in the courtyards. For us, the general design was simply gorgeous.
The height of the buildings also has another advantage: the views from the upper floors are absolutely stunning and some of the best we have experienced during our various visits to all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. In case you are not lucky with an upper-floor room, you can head to the third floor above restaurant Atlantico, where you have a public terrace with this amazing view.
If you want an even better view you can head up to the fifth floor of that same building, where you have some panoramic open windows which are accessible to everyone.
Those three Lopesan Punta Cana photos already give you a perfect overview of the main areas of the hotel. On the ground floor next to the lobby (which isn’t that impressive compared to other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana), you can find some of the à-la-carte restaurants of Lopesan Costa Bavaro. In the courtyards, you have a combination of tropical vegetation (which is more exotic than in other Punta Cana resorts) and plenty of pools.
Particularly the number of pools was impressive, as in the main area alone (between the lobby and the beach) you have six pools, including several relaxation pools, a toddlers water park (Lopesan Resort Punta Cana features another big water park, as you can read further below in this Lopesan Costa Bavaro review) and the impressive and beautiful infinity pool with ocean and beach view.
Around the pools, you can also find plenty of Bali beds and huge sun loungers, which are super comfy to relax in. As not everything is clustered around one area, there is also plenty of space for everyone, with quiet and more active areas.
In the middle of this main resort area, you can find the 2 main buffets, which are super centric and never more than a 2-minute walk away.
As mentioned, Lopesan Costa Bavaro is a pretty compact resort where most of the locations, especially the restaurants, rooms, lobby, bars, pools and the beach are within walking distance of 2-4 minutes.
However, there is also an entertainment section at the back of the resort, which is the exception to the 2 to 4-minute distance rule mentioned above. It starts shortly behind the lobby and is called “The Boulevard”. This is a large area with additional restaurants, bars (incl. the sports bar and the English beer pub), a coffee shop, an ice cream shop, the gym, the kids and teens club, the disco (all included in your all-inclusive stay at Lopesan Costa Bavaro) and – for an extra charge – plenty of shops incl. some designer brands, the spa, bowling and arcade center, casino and the medical services. This makes it a pretty cool area to roam around, especially as there was put much love into the design, making the area lively with plenty of plants, areas to sit and shaded places.
Especially at night, there are plenty of people roaming around at Lopesan Costa Bavaro’s “Boulevard” and it feels like you are in a little vibrant city. It is very comparable to Hard Rock Punta Cana’s Boulevard, just that at Hard Rock everything is inside and air-conditioned, while the actual “pedestrian area” at Lopesan Punta Cana is outside (but covered in case of any rain showers).
At the end of the Boulevard, you can also find Splash Island, the water park at Lopesan Costa Bavaro Punta Cana. It is one of the Punta Cana resorts with a water park and features a lot of water games and fun, along with 5 waterslides, particularly suitable for kids between the ages of 3 and 10. You won’t find any huge monster slides here, but especially kids will have fun the entire day here.
Right next to the water park, you can also find a snack restaurant with à-la-carte service and the ice cream shop, hence it is a perfect Caribbean paradise for the kids, making Lopesan Costa Bavaro a perfect family all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana. If you are traveling as a family to the Dominican Republic, you can check out the best family activities in Punta Cana here.
As you can see, the architects of Lopesan Costa Bavaro in Punta Cana had a lot of great ideas in mind when designing this beautiful resort. All the services you need are pretty close together, but on the other hand, there are plenty of extra amenities available (and included) at the Boulevard, which makes your stay so much more worthwhile, but which are completely optional. Furthermore, there was put a special effort into maintaining a particular Caribbean vibe when constructing and designing Hotel Lopesan Punta Cana.
The beach at Lopesan Costa Bavaro
The beach at Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort Spa & Casino is beautiful – as you can expect it from Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic. 😉 It belongs to Bavaro Beach, one of Punta Canas’ most beautiful beaches.
The beach is pretty white, has lots of palm trees, sun chairs and sunshades. The water is perfect to have a swim and to mingle around, as there is a shallow area in the beginning and a deeper part further away from the beach.
The beach – as in most all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana – is divided into the main section and a Preferred Club section, which is called Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Bavaro. You can read further details about the advantages of the Unique Club below in this Lopesan Punta Cana review.
There is no waiter service or an official beach bar at the beach but you can get your drinks from Goldfish Beach Club or Unique Beach Club (the latter one only if you are staying at Unique Club) right behind the beach. The advantage of this option is that those bars are fully equipped and you can get the full selection of premium brands at those beach clubs, both for spirits and beers.
The beach at Hotel Lopesan Punta Cana is also perfect for a kayak tour (kayaks and Hobie Cats are included in your all-inclusive stay), as you can head towards the Natural Swimming Pool, which is around 1.5 miles away. The Natural Swimming Pool is a popular attraction in Punta Cana and a destination for many Punta Cana catamaran tours and booze cruises.
As you know, all resort reviews here at Punta Cana Travel Blog are super honest, hence we should also mention in our Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino Review that the beach might sometimes be affected by seaweed – as most other beaches in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. This being said, you don’t have to be afraid that you can’t enjoy the beach or the ocean, as the beach gets cleaned daily during the seaweed season in Punta Cana and the ocean is usually mostly clear. After all, seaweed only affects the Caribbean for a couple of months and each year is different – hence it is difficult to make a sargassum forecast for the Dominican Republic for the upcoming years. The ocean water at Lopesan Punta Cana is anyway perfect to swim and beach walks are always possible without a problem. If you want to read more about this topic, you can check out the extensive Sargassum Guide for Punta Cana.
The rooms at Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Lopesan Punta Cana features 1042 fully-equipped and modernly designed rooms with a total of 22 (!) room categories, divided into three sections: regular rooms, adults-only rooms and Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Bavaro rooms.
What fascinated us most about Lopesans’ rooms was the modern design. Apparently, the resort not only had amazing architects but also fantastic interior designers. Right when you enter you can feel this Caribbean vibe with bright colors, natural materials and state-of-the-art design, topped off with a few pieces of simple but contemporary art. Simply amazing!
When booking Lopesan Hotel Punta Cana, you can look forward to some gorgeous rooms. But let’s have a closer look at the amenities and categories of Lopesan Costa Bavaros’ rooms.
In total, this Punta Cana all-inclusive resort features 22 room categories. When booking your holiday for 2024 at Lopesan Costa Bavaro Punta Cana, you have the choice of the following options:
The regular room categories are divided as follows:
- Junior Suite Economy (no view/street view)
- Junior Suite Tropical View
- Junior Suite Pool View
- Junior Suite Ocean View
- Junior Suite Two-Bedroom
- Junior Suite Pool View Adapted
- Junior Suite Swim-Up
- Corner Junior Suite
If you prefer the adults-only section, you can choose among the following Lopesan Costa Bavaro rooms:
- Adults Only Junior Suite Economy (no view/street view)
- Adults Only Junior Suite Tropical View
- Adults Only Junior Suite Pool View
- Adults Only Junior Suite Two-Bedroom
- Adults Only Junior Suite Swim-Up
- Adults Only Corner Junior Suite Tropical View
- Adults Only Corner Junior Suite Pool View
And if you would like to take advantage of the VIP services, you can book your stay at one of the rooms at Unique Club Lopesan Costa Bavaro.
- Unique Club Junior Suite Tropical View
- Unique Club Junior Suite Ocean View
- Unique Club Junior Suite One-Bedroom Tropical View
- Unique Club Junior Suite One-Bedroom Ocean View
- Unique Club Junior Suite Tropical View Adapted
- Unique Club Junior Suite Swim-Up
- Unique Club Junior Suite Corner One-Bedroom Ocean View
As you can see, there are many different categories among Lopesan Costa Bavaros’ rooms. They all feature the splendid design as mentioned above and are mainly varying in location (regular rooms, adults-only, Unique Club), view (garden, pool or ocean) and their balcony/terrace (regular or swim-up suites). The corner rooms feature an extra-large double-sized terrace, the Unique Club One-Bedroom Suites a living area and an even bigger terrace.
Furthermore, all Lopesan Punta Cana rooms offer the following amenities:
- 1 king-size bed or 2 queen-size beds
- a sofa or seating area
- air-conditioning
- fully stocked minibar
- 50” television
- WiFi (available throughout the resort – it works very well)
- in-room phone with unlimited calls to North America and most countries in Europe
- hairdryer
- iron + iron board
- safety deposit box
- 24-hour room service
- balcony or terrace with at least 118 square feet
- USB port
- fully equipped bathroom with separate shower, bathtub and bathroom amenities
By the way, if you ask for a room on the upper floors, chances are high that you get at least a partial ocean view (except when booking the economy rooms). As all the rooms are so super close to the beach, you can see the ocean from some distance (not in the photo). Most of the rooms are located parallel to the beach, meaning that your view goes towards both, the land and the sea.
As a part of our stay at Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino we also celebrated our honeymoon. We noted it when making the booking (via a third-party website) and the hotel was attentive enough to put a honeymoon sign at the room and send us a little present to the room. Very much appreciated, we were happily surprised that this information arrived until the guest service department.
Booking and Prices at Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Don’t these rooms look super cool?
If you also want to enjoy those fresh designs and possibly save when booking Hotel Lopesan Punta Cana, check out the following section as it is interesting to see the huge price differences on the different booking websites.
Before we check these prices and compare where you can get the cheapest rate for Lopesan Costa Bavaro, let’s have a look at the different booking websites. The all-inclusive resort is available on many different sites and there are advantages with each of these sites, depending on where you book.
Prices for Lopesan Bavaro Resort in Punta Cana usually start at around 330-350 USD per room per night in double occupancy in the low season, even I have seen it for around 300 USD during promotions.
During Punta Canas’ high season, pricing starts at around 425 USD per room per night – a premium price tag, but much cheaper than the typical high-end and luxury all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana.
For a better overview and to show you the best time to go to Punta Cana and to Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, here is an overview per month about the best prices. All prices stated are per room in double occupancy.
- Prices at Lopesan Costa Bavaro in October 2023: starting from 330 USD*

Please note that those prices are all indicative and can vary depending on many factors (see explanation above).
Please note that Lopesan is always listed under three different properties on most booking websites:
– Lopesan Costa Bavaro
– Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Bavaro
– Adults Only at Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Therefore, if you would like to book the Adults Only or Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Bavaro, you would need to search for this specific name and not for “Lopesan Costa Bavaro” only.
As always, make sure to check if a package deal with flights is cheaper. This mainly depends on your travel dates and departure airport and sometimes is the case, sometimes not. There is no general rule that a vacation package to Punta Cana is always cheaper or always more expensive – just check it out and compare it. Interestingly enough, for the package deals, all 3 sections of the hotel (regular rooms, Unique Club and Adults Only) are listed under one property, so you just have to check the prices once.
If you are looking for the best price of Lopesan Costa Bavaro All Inclusive, your first step should be to visit Lopesans’ website* as they usually have the best rate for an all-inclusive stay in their own hotel.
However, another great option is Hotelscombined*, powered by the famous Kayak search engine. They compare different booking websites and tour operators for you, finding out the best price and – most importantly – direct you right to the hotel website in case you can get the best price there. It offers you the best of both worlds: comparing different online travel agencies for the best prices and having direct access to the resort.
When we compared prices, only trip. com was able to fully match the prices on the homepage of Lopesan Costa Bavaro, even though trip.com* showed very limited availability. However, at trip. com, an internationally renowned company listed on the New York Stock Exchange, you have the additional advantage of collecting trip. com points, which you can redeem for further trips and travel discounts around the world.
Restaurants and bars at Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino also features a wide array of restaurants and bars. In total, you can expect 10 restaurants and 16 bars, scattered through the resort with many different international influences and menus.
The 11 restaurants are composed of the following:
- Buffet restaurant “Atlantico” (open for breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- Buffet restaurant “Caribe” (in case of low occupancy, just one of the two pretty similar buffet restaurants, is open) (open for breakfast, lunch and dinner)
- American restaurant “The Valley” with a-la-carte service (open throughout the day)
- French à-la-carte restaurant “Boheme” (open for dinner)
- Italian à-la-carte restaurant “Gondola”(open for dinner)
- Asian à-la-carte restaurant “Inari” (incl. Teppanyaki live cooking) (open for dinner)
- À-la-carte steakhouse “El Asador” (open for dinner)
- Mexican à-la-carte restaurant “El Charro” (open for dinner)
- Snack restaurant (à-la-carte) “Yolo” (open 24 hours)
- Mediterranean à-la-carte restaurant “Mareas” (not included, extra charge) (open for dinner)
- Goldfish Beach Club with buffet service for lunch (12-6pm)
What is pretty remarkable is that even the two more casual restaurants Yolo and The Valley, which are open throughout the day (Yolo is even open 24 hours), offer à-la-carte service which is much more than just a few hot dogs or hamburgers. They have delicious tacos, interesting vegetarian options, healthy hummus, freshly prepared burritos or plenty of other tasty international meals, allowing you to have a full, proper (and healthy if you want) meal the entire day (or night) without any reservation.
For the other à-la-carte restaurants, a previous reservation is needed, which isn’t that difficult to achieve. Just for the first evening, you might have to stick with the buffet, as reservations are closing at a certain time in the afternoon (I think it was either 3 or 5 p.m.). On most occasions, there shall be plenty of availability throughout the days of your vacation to enjoy the à-la-carte restaurants at Lopesan Resort Costa Bavaro.
Food at those à-la-carte restaurants is usually good to very good, without being spectacular. We had a few average dishes at the à-la-carte restaurants, but nothing too serious. If you don’t like one, simply pick another dish. The menus at Lopesan Costa Bavaros’ restaurants are extensive and mostly offer plenty of vegetarian options as well.
Compared to the à-la-carte restaurants, the buffets at Hotel Lopesan Punta Cana have been amazing. They might have one of the hugest selections you can find in any all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana and the quality was truly outstanding. Besides the typical dishes and flavors, they had a lot of elegantly prepared canapés, a huge selection of freshly squeezed sugar-free juices and super delicious desserts, which were so much more than the typical all-inclusive buffet stuff.
Same as for the rooms and the entire resort, the design of the seating area – both inside and outside – was also well elaborated, which didn’t give you the feeling of sitting in a random New York City canteen. As the hotel only opened in 2019, everything was brand-new and with a very fresh design.
Besides the main buffet which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you also have the option to have lunch at the 24-hour à-la-carte snack restaurant “Yolo”, the all-day American à-la-carte “The Valley” and at the Goldfish Beach Club, which offers a stunning beachside setting. Lunch hours at Goldfish are extended until 6 pm, so in case you miss the time mingling in the pool and enjoying your drinks you always have the opportunity to have a proper meal.
And, last but not least, Lopesan Bavaro had the best pizzas at their buffet I had so far in any of the all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. Simply delicious! Thin crust, freshly baked in the wood oven, hot, a lot of cheese, super soft and 10 different pizzas available – what else you can ask for from a pizza in the Caribbean. In case you are traveling as a family to Punta Cana, your kids will love it as well.
Concerning the drinks, Lopesan Costa Bavaro Punta Cana also got 100% of our satisfaction. The sheer amount of 16 bars doesn’t say anything about the quality, but at least you know that drinks are never far away. And indeed, there are plenty of bars everywhere. Even though it is a bit weird that Lopesan Resort Punta Cana doesn’t have a bar right at the beach (even though you have the two beach club bars super close) nor a swim-up bar, you always have a drink nearby – and those drinks are very good. A lot of premium spirits such as Baileys, Drambuie, Cointreau, Jameson, Tangueray Gin, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Absolut Vodka or Chivas Regal 12 years are just a few of the international brands you can get, backing up the premium approach Lopesan Costa Bavaro does offer during the entire all-inclusive stay. Furthermore, you can also enjoy several international beers such as Coors, Heineken and – of course – the Dominican Presidente.
But there is more than just the quality of drinks that sets Lopesan Bavaro apart from other Punta Cana resorts on the same price level, it is also the place where you can enjoy them. During the day, you should head over to the wonderful Goldfish Beach Club with plenty of lounge areas and comfy relaxing chairs.
During the night, besides the typical lobby bar and the bars of the restaurants, you can visit the large sports bar with plenty of pool tables and live sport broadcasts, or the English beer pub, which has wonderful decorations to live up to its name.
If you don’t want to drink alcohol, there are also plenty of options for you. The buffet offers freshly squeezed juices (most of them healthy without sugar), the ice cream shop can prepare filling (and sweet) smoothies and at the coffee shop, you can enjoy freshly brewed Dominican coffee.
Entertainment and service at Lopesan Costa Bavaro
If you have read the full Lopesan Costa Bavaro review with the explanation about “The Boulevard” in the “overview” section, you already can guess that Lopesan Hotel offers plenty of activities, fun and entertainment.
During the day, most of the activities – the typical schedule for all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana – take place at the pool and on the beach, while the Boulevard is much quieter during this time. An exception is the water park with the adjoining teens and kids club at the end of the Boulevard, which are the main attractions for the kids.
Talking about kids, what is also very important for families at Lopesan Costa Bavaro is that the kids and teens club is open during dinner times (unfortunately the teens club is only open during the day and from 8-9 pm, the kids club is open during the entire day and evening time, just with a lunch break), which means the parents can have a quiet, relaxed and romantic dinner while the little ones are taken care of.
During the evening, Lopesan Costa Bavaro Punta Cana springs to life with lots of entertainment options. Besides the theater with daily shows, you can visit the sports bar, the beer pub, some live music in the lobby, the bowling and arcade center (for a surcharge) or play table tennis at the American restaurant or pool at the sports bar.
Hotel Lopesan Punta Cana also has an impressive gym that can clearly outplay most of the gyms of other all-inclusive resorts in the Dominican Republic.
You can also play pool and table tennis at the beach club, there are various locations to do so.
Furthermore, this Punta Cana resort also has a pretty fancy disco, which is much more active and inviting than most small resort discos.
During the evening, there are also plenty of people around the Boulevard, so it’s pretty easy to connect with like-minded travelers. The good thing is that all this entertainment is far away from the rooms, so you can enjoy a quiet evening on your balcony or the beach if you wish to do so.
Regarding service, everything was absolutely fine as always during our stays in all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. One thing we noted is that the approach of the staff towards the guests here at Lopesan Punta Cana is more casual. If you are used to professional 5-star service which is carried out 100% according to the international service protocol this might be irritating, but in the end, it adds a more personal touch to the service staff, who seems to have more creative leeway than in other Punta Cana resorts.
Preferred Level (Adults Only and Unique Club) at Lopesan Costa Bavaro
Lopesan Punta Cana all-inclusive counts with two distinct areas which are only available for the accordant room categories: Adults Only Club and Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Bavaro.
The adults-only club is a separate section in the back of the resort, with an adults-only pool and a separate pool bar. Besides this exclusive area, you can enjoy all the other services from Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino. The adults-only area can be seen as a separate small section within the resort, but not as a full exclusive VIP club.
The Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Bavaro is the VIP tier of Lopesan Punta Cana, their Preferred Club. By booking a Unique Club room you can enjoy additional services and a separate beach club, called Unique Beach Bub.
The Unique Club rooms are pretty similar to the regular rooms, but they have a few extra amenities such as a Nespresso machine. Furthermore, the Unique Club at Lopesan Costa Bavaro comes with the following extra amenities, which are included for all Unique Club guests:
- Exclusive priority check-in and check-out
- Welcome drink
- Early breakfast
- Unique beach club
- Bar & restaurant at Unique Beach Club
- Priority reservations for à la carte restaurants
- Guaranteed bellhop service
- Pillow menu
- Unique Club premium jacuzzi
- Mareas restaurant included
- Travel bag and 2 bottles of Dominican rum
- Nespresso machine and tea service in the room
Especially the Mareas restaurant is a nice add-on to the Lopesan Costa Bavaro services, particularly for longer stays, so that you can sample this exquisite restaurant once or twice. But remember that also without the Unique Club you will have enough options, as there are so many other restaurants at Lopesan Costa Bavaro.
The Unique Beach Club is also a perfect opportunity if you’d love to have it quiet and relaxed without the need to queue, especially as Goldfish Beach Club sometimes is a little bit crowded. However, the lounge areas and relaxation zones of the Goldfish Club were more appealing.
However, I don’t think it is absolutely necessary to book Unique Club for an unforgettable stay at Lopesan Punta Cana Resort if you can’t afford it. With all the entertainment and facilities around, you also can enjoy the resort without being at Unique Club.
Excursions from Lopesan Costa Bavaro
As you can see, Lopesan Bavaro Resort offers a lot of entertainment, activities and options to have a pleasant holiday. But do you really want to fly to the Dominican Republic without seeing some of its natural beauties and hidden treasures? We would suggest no! That’s why you should head out to the countryside on some of the most exciting excursions from Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort.
When staying at Lopesan Punta Cana, our top pick would be Isla Saona. It is by far the most beautiful and paradisical place in this region of the Dominican Republic and it’s absolutely worth seeing it. Gorgeous beaches, turquoise water, stunning scenery – there is not much more you can ask for from Saona Island. Usually, you head to Saona on a catamaran excursion, but if this 12-hour trip (incl. transfers from/to Punta Cana) is too long for you, you can also consider the helicopter excursion, which guarantees a special VIP experience (as of October 2023 helicopter excursions to Saona Island are currently not possible but I hope that this unique tour option will come back soon).
If you are more interested in the landside natural attractions of the Dominican Republic, you should explore Los Haitses National Park. It is not only the most beautiful national park, but it also offers the highest biodiversity in the country.
If staying at Lopesan Hotel Punta Cana from January to March, it is actually a must to go on a whale-watching excursion to see the gigantic humpback whales. After the whale-watching tour, you can enjoy some relaxation time at the famous Bacardi Island, as most excursions make a stop at this place which is also called Cayo Levantado.
And if you don’t want to head out that far from Lopesan to a Punta Cana excursion, you can also stay in the area of Punta Cana and explore the fantastic Blue Lagoon (Hoyo Azul) during a visit to Scape Park Cap Cana.
This is just a sample of some things to do in Punta Cana. Depending on your length of stay at Lopesan, you should plan a few days for some activities outside of the resort. For a better overview, check out this article with the best and most exciting excursions in Punta Cana.
But the options mentioned are just a few of the Lopesan Costa Bavaro excursions you can choose from. You can also go on your own adventure and explore hidden gems in nature such as Salto de la Jalda, Hoyo Claro or Playa Esmeralda, one of the most pristine and beautiful beaches in the Dominican Republic.
Furthermore, you can opt for one of those tours and activities that are receiving praising reviews from travelers for years. That’s why we have compiled a list of the best-rated tours in Punta Cana, all of them with a pick-up in the resort – hence they’re the perfect Lopesan Costa Bavaro excursion with satisfaction guarantee.

Lopesan Costa Bavaro is a great new resort with so much to explore. We were enchanted by the design of the property, the multifaceted entertainment and the gorgeous grounds, along with those super homey rooms with a very special Caribbean vibe. If you are looking for a compact resort with state-of-the-art amenities and short distances from A to B, without cutting back on premium services and activities, Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort, Spa & Casino might be the perfect choice for your Punta Cana vacation. It is also a perfect option for families, thanks to the water park and the extended hours of the kids and teens club.
Even though the à-la-carte restaurants could not fully meet the high expectations set by the other areas of the hotel, we were absolutely happy with our stay here and would recommend Lopesan Bavaro to anyone looking for an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana in the mid-price segment. It is neither a budget resort nor a high-end property, but for everyone looking for a mid-price resort with premium services, Lopesan Punta Cana is a perfect choice.

What is the dress code at lopesan all inclusive?
Hi Larisa,
usually, there is no specific dress code required for most of the resorts in Punta Cana. Just for dinner long pants for men and dresses or dress shirts for women are required plus usually flip-flops are not accepted during dinner. For lunch, at least a cover-up or bathing suit wrap is required.
A similar dress code applies for Lopesan, even though it is not always 100% enforced and varies a bit from restaurant to restaurant.
I hope this helps.
Chris
Hi Chris,
Your blog is amazing. Interesting, informative. Thank you.
Curious- why would you say that the Lopesan All Inclusive is not “high end”?
Hi Janice,
great if this review was helpful for you.
Good question, actually. But I’d say that food, service and the general appearance of Lopesan Costa Bavaro is not high-end. It is great for the money you pay, but not if you want to get the best of the best what Punta Cana has to offer.
I hope this helps.
Cheers, Chris
Hi
What time does the various pools throughout Lopesan close? Are you allowed to be in the swim-out pool after all other pools are closed? Are Adult-Only rooms in a building specifically for adults-only (no kids)? Last but not least the resort building have 5 floors are there elevators in each building?
Hi Nicole,
the main pool at Lopesan closes around 6pm if I am not mistaken. You can use the swim-up pools 24h if you have a swim-up suite. The buildings have elevators. If you have book an adults-only room, you room should be located in the respective adults-only area.
I hope this helps. Enjoy your time in Punta Cana.
Chris
