Where is Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana?
When you’re looking for an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana with attractive surroundings, it can’t get much better than the Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana location. Both beach-wise and city-wise (and also regarding the distance from the airport), the hotel features a super-attractive location.
The resort is located directly at one of the prime stretches of Bavaro Beach, the longest and best beach in Punta Cana. Further below in this Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana review you can see photos of Playa Bavaro and read why it is such a fantastic beach.
Many resorts in Punta Cana are pretty isolated, but from Dreams Royal Beach you also have access to the local life of Punta Cana. Once you leave the resort through the main gate, you can reach several local shops and food trucks within walking distance. You also have direct access to the public transport system in Punta Cana.
Also airport-wise the Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana location is pretty convenient, as it is only a 20-25 minute transfer from Punta Cana International Airport. While airport taxis are readily available, it is more recommendable to prebook your private airport transfer in Punta Cana. This one here is your best private transfer option to Dreams Royal Beach*.
Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana shares the location with its sister resort Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana. The property is bordered by the Corales Beach area on one side, home to many Airbnbs, international restaurants and shopping opportunities, and the Melía property on the other side, which consists of Paradisus Palma Real, Falcon’s Resort (incl. the newest theme park in Punta Cana, Katmandu Park) and Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort, among others.
Definition of Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
Compared to other all-inclusive hotels in Punta Cana, which sometimes feature a lot of different names, Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana can usually be found with exactly this name on the internet even though you might stumble over some other variations, such as Dream Royal Beach, Dreams Royal Punta Cana, Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana All Inclusive, Punta Cana Dreams Royal Beach or Royal Dreams Punta Cana.
However, what is important to know is that Dreams Royal Beach was Now Larimar before. A couple of years ago – I think it was around 2020 or 2021 – the resort was upgraded from being a Now Resort to a Dreams Resort after it received extensive renovations.
Overview of Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
As in most of the resort reviews here on Punta Cana Travel Blog, I also want to start this Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana review with an overview of the resort. As mentioned, the property is divided into Secrets Royal Beach and Dreams Royal Beach, but we only focus on the Dreams part as you don’t have access to Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana (with very few exceptions which you can read further below in our Dreams Royal Beach review).
Dreams Royal Beach is a medium-sized resort, where the distance from the lobby to the beach is approx. 1000 feet, hence around 4 minutes walking. This is also the maximum distance from any of the rooms until Playa Bavaro.
Before even reaching the lobby of Dreams Royal Beach Resort, you first see the tennis courts and the basketball court of the hotel. Furthermore, in front of the lobby a new water park is being built, probably ready at some point in 2024.
The lobby of Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana is more of a smaller size and not a super prestigious one. But, it does its job and is – besides the reception and some tour desks – also home to a separate Preferred Club area as well as the Coco Café, where you can grab snacks, bites, coffees and refreshments on the go.
To the left of the lobby, you can find the gym, the boutique and gift shop, the sports bar as well as the teens club and the kids club – perfect for families traveling to Punta Cana Dreams Royal Beach.
Leaving the lobby towards the beach, you first pass the large entertainment area, where the nightly shows are held. There is also a snack bar for kids here as well as a ping pong table.
Directly adjacent to this place is the main bar for the evenings as well as the pool bar – those two are combined. The pool bar is right next to a beautiful and super large infinity pool which is perfect for passing the day when you want to have company but no loud entertainment. It is kind of a quiet pool but with a swim-up bar and a beautiful tropical setting – a pretty stunning design and architecture.
Continuing towards the beach, you can enjoy the beautiful setting of the Dreams Royal Beach property, consisting of tropical vegetation and a super long lazy river, which is perfect for floating, swimming or just hanging out and enjoying a drink. In general, Dreams Royal Beach is a perfect resort for pool lovers, as you have several types of pools which all have their different vibe and are super well designed.
But the lazy river is not the last pool you have at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana All Inclusive. Right next to the beach, you have the main pool, where you can find another swim-up bar as well as all the daily activities and pool entertainment.
All pools are surrounded by sufficient lounge chairs all around, hence you’ll always find a shady place to relax.
Once in the beach area, you also find all the Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana restaurants including the main buffet with its ocean view. This area is also home to the towel station, an activity area and two further smaller and really cozy bars, including one for Dreams Royal Beach Preferred Club guests at a small open lounge.
Finally, you have reached the beach, a particularly beautiful area of Playa Bavaro. Here you can find plenty of sun loungers incl. a separate beach area for the Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana Preferred Club. There is the Barefoot Grill snack bar at the beach as well as the watersports center for renting kayaks, Hobie cats or SUPs.
The beach at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
Talking about the beach, I have already mentioned further above in this Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana review that the hotel is located at one of the best parts of Bavaro Beach. And indeed, once you see the beach you’ll understand the beauty, thanks to the hundreds of palm trees and the super wide stretch of beach in this particular area.
You can also have amazingly long beach walks here from Dreams Royal Beach Resort, as the entire Bavaro Beach is around 12 miles long. Walking in both directions along the beach, you can find both, further Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts as well as some public beach clubs, particularly in the Corales Area as well as in Bibijagua.
Of course, when talking about the beaches in Punta Cana, one also has to mention the seaweed, which might occur from time to time. If you want to understand the entire topic, feel free to continue reading my Punta Cana seaweed guide.
In general, Dreams Royal Beach is neither particularly protected nor super-prone to seaweed. The hotel has put a fence in the ocean which keeps the majority of the seaweed out and they also clean the beach every day. Those two measures are the best options currently available and usually help pretty well. During our visit for example, in the middle of the seaweed season in Punta Cana, the beach was very clean and beautiful, with hardly any sargassum.
The rooms at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
Even though it might appear different at first glance due to the large amount of amenities and the combination with Secrets Royal Beach, but Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana is a rather small resort with only 373 rooms which gives it a more intimate and personal vibe.
The great thing about Dreams Royal Beach Punta Canas rooms’ is that they are easy to understand. Even though there are 9 room categories, most of them are very similar and are only differentiated by their view and their status concerning the Preferred Club – but the size and their amenities are all the same, except for the Preferred Club Master Suite Ocean Front.
When booking this hotel, you have the choice between the following room categories at Dreams Royal Beach:
- Deluxe Room (Run of House)
- Deluxe Tropical View
- Deluxe Pool View
- Deluxe Pool Terrace
- Deluxe Family Room Tropical View
- Preferred Club Deluxe Pool View
- Preferred Club Deluxe Partial Ocean View
- Preferred Club Deluxe Swim Up
- Preferred Club Master Suite Ocean Front
As mentioned, all Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana rooms are pretty similar and all feature a king bed or two double beds, a hot tub on the terrace, a furnished balcony or terrace, air conditioning with in-room climate control & ceiling fan, nightly turndown service, full bathroom with shower and full bathroom amenities, telephone, daily refreshed mini-bar, flat-screen cable TV, coffee & tea making facilities, electronic in-room safe, iron and ironing board, work desk, 24-hour room service and free Wi-Fi (which works pretty well, even though it is not always the fastest).
All rooms are sized 570 ft² and are super spacious. The Deluxe Family Room Tropical View is the same as well but consists of two interconnecting rooms. The Preferred Club Master Suite Ocean Front room at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana has a size of 1270 ft².
The two main differences among Dreams Royal Beach Punta Canas’ rooms are the two following:
View:
Tropical View rooms have a view of the garden (usually the back side of the resort), Pool View rooms to the pool and ocean view rooms – well – to the ocean.
Preferred Club:
The Preferred Club rooms at Dreams Punta Cana Royal Beach come with additional amenities, among them upgraded bath amenities, a pillow menu and an upgraded mini-bar and room service menu. You also enjoy Preferred Club status in the entire resort which comes with additional advantages as you can read further below in a separate section in our Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana review.
In general, we were very happy with our room, especially as it was super spacious with a separate seating and working area plus a large balcony with a comfortable jacuzzi. The room comes with full bathroom amenities which is not self-evident in some of the newer all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana. Also, service and cleanliness were spotless.
Booking and Prices at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
Once you have decided on your preferred Dreams Royal Beach room, you can continue with the booking. Booking Dreams Royal Beach Resort is pretty straightforward as you can book it through most online travel agencies, package tour operators and also the hotel directly. One thing worth mentioning is that Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana, along with all Dreams Resorts in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic, is now part of Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.
Have a look at the following options to book your all-inclusive vacation at Dreams Punta Cana Royal Beach.
Dreams Royal Beach is a 5-star resort in Punta Cana, located in the medium-price segment. It is neither a budget resort in Punta Cana nor a super affordable all-inclusive hotel, but it also doesn’t belong to the high-end options in Punta Cana, such as Hyatt Ziva, Iberostar Grand or Excellence Punta Cana.
Prices in the low season start at around 350 USD per night per room, during promotions you might even score a great deal of around 300 USD. During the high season, mainly between the Christmas holidays and Easter holidays, prices start at around 400-450 USD per night per double room.
Dreams Royal Beach Preferred Club rooms usually come with an additional price of approx. 35-50 USD per person per night.
If you are not sure about where you can find the best price, you can use this price comparison tool here*, which also includes all of the current promotions.
Another important thing to mention when booking your stay at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana All Inclusive is the option that a package – consisting of flight, hotel and in most cases ground transfers, all booked together – sometimes might be cheaper. But there is no general rule hence your only option is to compare the prices. Your best bet to check package prices for Dreams Royal Beach is here*.
Restaurants and bars at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
Considering that Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana is a rather small hotel with less than 400 rooms there is a pretty large selection of restaurants, snack points and particularly bars, which means you will never be hungry or thirsty during your stay at this Punta Cana all-inclusive resort.
When staying at the hotel, you can choose among the following Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana restaurants:
- World Café: international buffet restaurant for lunch, breakfast and dinner
- Fusion: Asian à-la-carte restaurant for dinner
- Oceana: Seafood à-la-carte restaurant for dinner
- Portofino: Italian à-la-carte restaurant for dinner (+ pizza à-la-carte for lunch)
- Seaside Grill: Grill à-la-carte restaurant for dinner (+ breakfast and lunch à-la-carte for Dreams Royal Beach Preferred Club guests)
While this listing looks like the typical offer for an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, there are some special experiences I don’t want to keep back from you.
Stunning ocean view buffet:
While most buffets in other Punta Cana all-inclusive hotels are hidden somewhere close to the lobby, the buffet restaurant at Dreams Royal Beach Resort features a stunning location right at the beach with indoor and outdoor seating. If you choose to eat outside, you can enjoy a fantastic view while having your meals.
Mediocre buffet:
On the other side, if you are a buffet lover and usually have all your three meals a day at the buffet, Dreams Royal Beach might not be the perfect choice for you. While the breakfast buffet was very good and had a lot of high-quality dishes and ingredients, such as fish carpaccio, salmon, exotic fruits and a fresh fruit juice station (including healthy juices without sugar) + the mandatory fresh omelet and egg station, the lunch and dinner buffet was rather mediocre. There are a lot of overcooked dishes + the labeling and signposting of the meals are often confusing or not correct during lunch and dinner. In addition, it is pretty loud when you’re sitting inside, so outside is definitely the better option.
Best Asian dinner:
Luckily, you’re not stuck to the buffet for dinner (and for breakfast, the buffet is much better) thanks to Dreams Royal Beach Punta Canas’ restaurant variations. One of the à-la-carte options you have at night is Fusion, an Asian à-la-carte restaurant with additional Teppanyaki (show-cooking) tables. While we skipped on the show-cooking (it is pretty much the same show and the same food at most resorts in Punta Cana and we have seen it more than enough), the Asian à-la-carte restaurant at Dreams Royal Beach was simply amazing and definitely one of the best Asian dinners we had in entire Punta Cana. I am usually not easy to please with Asian food as I am still in love with the food from my 6-months Asia trip back in 2014 but this dinner here – including sushi – at Dreams Royal Punta Cana was outstanding.
Additional lunch options:
What’s also not common in other all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana is that you have additional lunch options besides the buffet. While a beach snack – like the Barefoot Grill at Dreams Royal Beach Resort – is pretty typical, an additional à-la-carte pizzeria for lunch is not. Even though the pizza here was not super amazing, it is nice having additional options, especially when traveling with kids to Punta Cana – another reason why Dreams Royal Beach is a great option when you’re looking for a family resort in Punta Cana.
Preferred Club restaurant:
When you’re booking a Dreams Royal Beach Preferred Club room, you also have access to the seaside grill for breakfast and lunch, where you can enjoy elaborate à-la-carte meals. While the breakfast is more of a continental breakfast option with premium service and presentation (I mean, is there anything better than having breakfast with a beach view and a constant ocean breeze?), the lunch menu has several delicious meals waiting for you.
As always at all Dreams Resorts in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic, you don’t need reservations for the à-la-carte dinners. If you go during peak hours (7.30-9 pm) expect to wait for 10-20 minutes, but you can perfectly kill the time with a pre-dinner drink at the closest bar.
Besides the restaurants mentioned above, there are also 3 snack bars waiting for you at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana All Inclusive:
- Coco Café: 24/7 coffee shop located in the lobby with coffee specialties and snacks (sweets and sandwiches, even though they were lacking vegetarian options)
- Sundaez: ice cream and popcorn bar, particularly for the kids (and all adults who still want to be children 😉 )
- Tides: beachfront grill with hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and other snacks
Besides this wide range of eateries, you also have an impressive selection of 12 bars scattered throughout the resort, among them 3 Preferred Club bars. Considering that Dreams Royal Beach All Inclusive is a rather small resort, this is more than enough.
As with nearly all resorts belonging to the AMR Collection respectively to Hyatt Hotels & Resorts in the Dominican Republic, all bars include international brands and premium alcohol, even though there are some differences between Preferred Club bars and the regular bars. Still, the regular bars include brands such as Jose Cuervo Tequila, Tanqueray Gin and Absolut Vodka, while the Preferred Club Bars offer additional premium spirits such as Chives Regal 12 Years, Grey Goose Vodka or Barcelo Imperial. In general, the selection of drinks was very good compared to other resorts in Punta Cana with a similar price level.
Especially the Preferred Club bar has some really exotic and high-quality brands.
Entertainment and service at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
Ok, after all those food options here at our Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana review, let’s have a look at the entertainment and service here at this Punta Cana hotel.
As neighboring Secrets Royal Beach is an adults-only resort in Punta Cana and therefore caters exclusively to adults, Dreams Royal Beach is more a family-friendly resort, even though it is also a decent option for honeymooners, groups of friends or singles. In short, Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana is a great option for nearly every kind of traveler, which also reflects the entertainment and activity program.
Kids and teens will love the teens club and the kids club with a super vast activity program. For example, here is the schedule for the kids club (kids 3-12).
In addition, the teens club (teens 13-17 years) offers many video games and interactive entertainment.
Further kids’ highlights are the popcorn and ice cream bar, the several pools, as well as a very child-friendly signposting throughout the resort.
For adults, there is a full-day entertainment program with pool, sports and fun activities during the day as well as nightly live music or show acts at night.
What’s definitely worth mentioning for the evening entertainment is that the illumination at the resort is absolutely attractive so strolling around is a true joy. Furthermore, there are several cute bars open throughout the resort, including some nice lounge spots for an elegant cocktail such as the small pool bar with just around 4 tables across from the restaurant section.
For those night owls among you, you can use the nightclub and disco (drinks included) at Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana which is open daily from 10 pm.
Talking about shared spaces with Secrets Royal Beach Resort, there is also a small casino you can use as well as the huge spa and the very well-equipped gym. The tennis courts at the entrance of the property are also shared between Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana and Dreams Royal Beach Resort Punta Cana. If you’re looking for further sports activities, you can also head to the water sports center and rent Hobie cats, kayaks and SUPs.
When talking about family activities in Punta Cana and at Dreams Royal Beach, it is also important to know that the hotel is planning to construct a water park at this resort. There is no detailed opening date yet, but I would guess it might open at some point during 2024.
Preferred Club (VIP Level) at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
As already mentioned above in this Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana review, you have the chance to book a Preferred Club room when staying at this all-inclusive hotel, which comes with additional privileges and amenities.
As always with those kinds of VIP levels, some of these amenities are extremely helpful, some others are nice to have and others are not really worth any extra money. But this also depends a lot on your preferences.
Let’s have a look first at all the advantages you get when booking a Dreams Royal Beach Preferred Club room:
- Personalized check-in and checkout with concierge service
- Butler service
- Preferred Club á-la-carte restaurant for breakfast and lunch
- Private Preferred Club bars
- Upgraded bath amenities and pillow menu in the room
- Complimentary iPad access in Preferred Club
- Upgraded mini-bar and room service menu
- Pool concierge & bar service
For us, the following three amenities were the most important features of staying at Dreams Royal Beach Preferred Club:
Beachfront à-la-carte restaurant for breakfast and lunch:
Having your first or second meal of the day with a beachfront view is simply amazing. Even though the main buffet restaurant at Dreams Royal Beach Resort also features an ocean view, the ambiance of the Seaside Grill, exclusively for Preferred Club guests for breakfast and lunch, is much more different and elegant. A great way to start the day!
Additional bars and spirits:
I have to admit I love to try new spirits and explore different bars – and Dreams Royal Beach All Inclusive offers the perfect opportunity for this combination. The selection of brands particularly at the Preferred Club reception in the lobby is insane and the small bar in the poolside Preferred Club Lounge is super cute.
Butler service:
This is nothing we use very often, but it indeed has some advantages if you can ask for any information or problem solutions and you get a reply super soon. Communication is done easily through WhatsApp.
For your information, there are a few more amenities listed on the official sales page of Dreams Royal Beach but they are not really in place, such as a private Preferred Club pool or the afternoon snacks in the lounge. There is no air-conditioned Preferred Club Lounge like in other Dreams Resorts in Punta Cana, but there is a separate (outdoor) lounge area close to the pool. On the other hand, you have three instead of one Preferred Club bar with upgraded premium spirits as well as personalized butler service.
Interchanging facilities
Interchanging facilities between Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana and Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana
As mentioned in this Dreams Royal Beach review, Dreams shares the property with Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana. However, as Secrets Royal Beach is the higher-tier resort, you don’t have access to it as a guest of Dreams Royal Beach. The only amenities that are shared between Dreams Royal Beach and Secrets Royal Beach are the casino, the gym, the spa and the nightclub/disco.
In return, guests of Secrets Royal Beach have access to the entire Dreams Royal Beach Resort.
You can read the full Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana review here.
Interchanging facilities between Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana and other Dreams Resorts in Punta Cana
When talking about other Dreams Resorts in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic, you have indeed some additional options. There is the official Sip, Savor and See Program, which allows you to spend the evening from 6 pm to 1 am in other Sunscape, Now or Dreams Resorts in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic. While meals, drinks and entertainment are included in this program, you have to pay for your own transfer to the other resorts.
Currently, there are the following resorts in the Dominican Republic that would apply for the Sip, Savor and See program when staying at Dreams Royal Beach:
- Dreams Onyx
- Dreams Dominicus
- Dreams Flora
- Dreams Macao
There is also a Sunscape Resort in Puerto Plata, but this is too far away (8-hour drive). There are currently no Now Resorts in the Dominican Republic.
The two resorts which would be most interesting in my opinion are Dreams Onyx and Dreams Flora. Dreams Onyx because you also would have access to the vibrant breathless Punta Cana next door and Dreams Flora because it is the newest and closest resort when it comes to Dreams Resorts in Punta Cana.
Excursions from Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana
As indicated at the beginning of this review, Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana location is one of the most centric you can find in Punta Cana, which allows you to take part in basically every excursion you want.
If you just want to get a general overview of what you can do, I highly recommend checking out the best excursions and tours in Punta Cana here.
One of the best Dreams Royal Beach excursions is still a tour to Saona Island. The island is so paradisical, it is too beautiful to believe. It is one of the best excursions in Punta Cana as long as you’re willing to spend an entire day outside of your resort – it is a 10-12-hour trip.
If you rather prefer a half-day excursion, a catamaran trip along Punta Canas’ shores is one of the best options you can choose – either as a family-friendly version* or an adults-only trip*. Both are rated equally amazing and include a snorkeling part at one of Punta Cana’s best reefs.
If you’re looking for a family adventure in Punta Cana, the theme parks in Punta Cana are a great option. They are much different than what you’re used to in the United States or Europe, but they guarantee a full day of fun. While you can find the famous Blue Lagoon as well as a fun zipline at Scape Park Punta Cana, Katmandu Park Punta Cana is Punta Cana’s newest attraction with an adventurous high ropes course and unique adventure golf.
If you prefer wildlife, a whale-watching excursion in Punta Cana is a must-do in Punta Cana. “Unfortunately”, the whales are only in the Dominican Republic from January to March. As an alternative, Los Haitises is a true highlight for wildlife and nature lovers.
For more cool activities, check out the best things to do in Punta Cana.
Those suggestions are all based on our own experiences. If you’re looking for further Dreams Royal Beach excursions, the following table with the best-rated tours in Punta Cana can also be super helpful for you. Most of these tours do not only have a rating of 90% or more 5 stars, but the majority also offer free cancellation and pay-later options. All those excursions include a pick-up at Dreams Royal Beach.

Summary
We had a great time at Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana and absolutely enjoyed our stay. I was even surprised about the quality and services, as I was expecting it at a lower level than neighboring Secrets Royal Beach – but this was not the case in all aspects. While the beach at Dreams Royal Beach and Secrets Royal Beach are the same, the buffet at Dreams is indeed nothing to write home about. However, the a-la-carte restaurants and the level of service as well as the drinks were close to on par with neighboring Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana and the pool area with its infinity pool, the lazy river and the main pool are top-notch, especially for pool lovers.
Therefore, Dreams Royal Beach is a great option, especially for families and adults, who are looking for a middle-price resort with excellent services and amenities with an excellent beach. If you’re looking for similar alternatives, you could also check out the Lopesan Costa Bavaro review or the Dreams Flora review, but in general, there is not much you can do wrong with Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana. A great vacation in Punta Cana is awaiting you.

Muchas gracias, Alberto Becerra
Hi Alberto,
thanks for your comment. The Preferred Club rooms are typically scattered around the resort, depending on which category you book. There is a Preferred Club restaurant called Seaside Grill right at the beach with fantastic views, where you can have breakfast and lunch à-la-carte. You can find impressions of this restaurant at the review above.
I hope this helps.
Chris
